Anna and Alex founded bailastudio in March 2024, with almost 10 years of shared dance experience.

They fell in love with Forró in 2014 and started teaching their first courses at Forró Aachen (founded by Junio Reis de Souza) in 2017.

Anna discovered her passion for music, rhythm, and dance already in her childhood. When she learned about Forró, the Brazilian partner dance and culture quickly became an important part of her life. In 2016, she traveled to Brazil for the first time to get to know the country and its people better and to visit one of the most well-known dance schools for Forró in Belo Horizonte. Besides Forró, she currently dances Brazilian Zouk, Samba de Gafieira, and Hip Hop.

When Alex started playing guitar at the age of 14, music became an inseparable part of his life. With Forró, he discovered his passion for expressing music through dance. His dance style therefore emphasizes musicality and the connection between leader and follower, while combining flowing arm movements with accented footwork.

In 2018, Anna and Alex spent several weeks together in Brazil to further develop their dance and language skills and successfully participated in the exams at "pé descalço". Initially, their dance style was mainly influenced by Forró Universitário, but was soon complemented by Forró Roots. Today, they like to combine different styles to the music and are also inspired by influences from other dances in their dancing.

Anna & Alex teach ongoing group courses, give private lessons, lead workshops, and develop choreographies. They value connection, musicality, and creativity as well as good technique, both for followers and leaders. Most importantly, they enjoy dancing and creating a good energy in the class and on the dance floor.

Anna started her dance career at a young age with classical ballet. In 2022, Anna successfully completed training as a state-recognized dance educator for ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Besides ballet, she also began exploring various Latin social dances, rock’n’roll, and standard Latin during her physics studies. Since 2017, she has been teaching standard Latin as well as occasionally salsa and bachata. Together with Jannis, she started teaching Brazilian Zouk in Aachen in 2018.

Jannis began his dance journey during school with a classical standard Latin course. Afterwards, during his physics studies in Bremen, he learned rock’n’roll, various Latin social dances like salsa, bachata, etc., and especially Brazilian Zouk.

Anna & Jannis started teaching Brazilian Zouk in Aachen in 2018. Together, they built the local Zouk community. Their teaching methodology is strongly influenced by the concepts of Kadu & Larissa (K&L certificate) as well as Alex de Carvalho (MAC certificate).
